Messed UP!

Let's face it, people are capable of doing much worse than this. But, theft is theft and it's terrible. The chances of these two bringing back the money with an apology.... Probably not too likely. Should the owner file a police report and send it in to his insurance carrier asking for coverage based off theft? If he has that coverage... Why not? If the owner does have a GL policy, he/she most likely has theft covered. Will they probably have a hard time convincing their insurer that they should be indemnified, maybe.... You put the money in a make-shift cardboard box sitting on the counter where all you customers go to pay. It wasn't secured to anything, it was a makeshift box, you had $800-1,000 in it...Not sure about that one. Either remove the cash every hour, get one of those actual donation boxes that can be fastened to an irremovable object, or just put it out of arms reach! I don't mean to sound like a insensitive, these people were trying to do a good thing and I find that admirable. Just next time, if there is one now.... Think about what you are doing and include the worst case scenario, then go about it.
