YES!! It's Super Bowl weekend ladies and gentlemen. A day full of excitement, anticipation, betting, pizza, drinking, yelling, unsportmen-like-conduct and not giving a damn about anything except for what's on that TV! Now, that is one side of things. Bars, restaurants with a sports theme, it's time to cash in. You know you're going to be busy. You know things are going to happen that you may not be able to fully control. I worked every Super Bowl Sunday behind the bar for the past 5 years, trust me, we keep serving and they keep paying. It's crazy! It's fun! It's increasing the possibility of some very costly consequences. I don't want to burst your bubble, but this is who I am and it is only because I care about the industry that provided me a good life throughout my college years.... and some. Owners, GM's, DOP's, I only say this because I have met some bar owners that don't believe in purchasing insurance, look over your policy and check what you have. That Liquor Liability may be what saves your life if you have over served a patron and they go out and decide to drive home and hurt someone in the process. Are you covered for theft? Crime? You might think you are. But we both know that policies can be confusing as heck. Call your broker for clarification or contact me. Bottom line, give your employees a pep talk. You don't have to bum them out and try to drill into their heads the "what if scenarios," just say hey.Go over the basics; Card everyone, keep track of how much you've served someone, watch your money, stay alert (stay away from fist pumpers and overweight jumping football fanatics), have a great Sunday and make some money for me. Heck, I'd pick up a shift if anyone wanted to watch. San Diego sounds nice.......
